The George Foundation
Renovation of Administration Building
Richmond, Texas
A two-story office building with first floor offices for the staff of The George Foundation, and
a large conference room for use by the Board of Trustees. The second floor is left open for
storage of the extensive collection of memorabilia. Related to Fort Bend County and The
George Ranch.
The stone-clad building is reminiscent of the original occupant of the site, the Davis Bank
Building built in 1896, complete with corner turret. The bank building was replaced in 1954
with a "modern" one-story building which was itself removed for this newest version of the
original bank building.
During demolition of the 1950's building, a portion of the original 100+ year old brick wall
was found within the construction. The red brick salvaged from this wall was reconstructed
as a feature wall of the sky lit atrium.
